Yorktown, Virginia - December 13-18, 2012

It was time for my annual visit to the Sabochicks to help with making Christmas cookies!
Andy and Christina both love to "paint" the cut-out shapes with icing!
The next day, we made a gingerbread house--this is something I had not done in many, many years--and it was the first for the Sabochicks!
Having put "snow" on the roof....

Even Lynda gets into the act with putting "snow" on the shutters of the house...

...while Christina adds "lights" to the house

Christina and Andy's first gingerbread house--a beautiful work of art--great job, Guys!

San Diego, California - November 22-29, 2012

Our Panama Canal cruise ended in San Diego on Thanksgiving morning.  Bruce and Renee came to pick us up at the dock as we disembarked from Celebrity's Infinity.  Unfortunately, this year I was not able to bake any pies, but I did get candied sweet potatoes made!  Pictured are Renee, Bruce, Lauren, Gayle, Jim, Brian (who works at Sony with Joan), and Joan--gathered around a beautiful Thanksgiving Day table....

This was a week with Jim's family--and it was spent playing many, many games--and eating!  A couple of times we went out for dinner...
Out to dinner at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant--Gayle, Bruce, Joan, Renee, Lauren, and Jim
Another big event this week was Renee's 14th birthday!
Here's Renee about to open presents....

...and pictured with her cake....

....and blowing out the candles!

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to San Diego, CA - November 20-22, 2012

Today was our last shore excursion on this voyage.  Cabo is famous for it's arch at Land's End--and I was determined to see it!  This was the one port where the Infinity could not tie up right at a dock--so we had to use a tender to get to shore.

The day's one disappointment was that we were not able to connect either by phone or e-mail with Marion and Bill Doidge, long-time friends from Saskatchewan, Canada, who were in Cabo at this very time.  It would have been so great to have seen them!
Once ashore, we boarded this craft which took us on
a tour of the harbor and offered great views of the arch.

Birds were everywhere on the rocks.

And the seals!

It reminded me of Antarctica!

Lots and lots of seals!!

And then--the famed arch!!

The Infinity at anchor in the harbor.

What a gorgeous sight as the waves crashed into the rocks!

Another bird on a little rock as we begin circling around
the end of the Baja Peninsula

Land's End--the end of the Baja Peninsula, which
separates the Pacific Ocean from the Sea of Cortez.

The arch from the Pacific Ocean side

The Infinity as seen from the Pacific Ocean through
the opening in the rocks at Land's End

As we cruised north on the Pacific Ocean side of the
Peninsula, we saw all kinds of resorts....

....and homes built on the edges of the cliffs

Along the beach, a great view of a wave crashing into an unusual rock.

Could they build it any closer to the edge??

Everyone wants to be closest to the cliff...

Would not want to be here during a storm!!

Beautiful beaches....

Beautiful homes....

And we cruise back to Land's End and the Sea of Cortez

The arch with a parasailer to the right

The Infinity can still be seen on our return...

A tender returning passengers to the ship from the dock.

Another view of the arch with a large wave as we return to the Sea of Cortez--notice the kayak!

A beach between the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of
Cortez--easily seen from our craft in the Sea of
Cortez...

...and loaded with people as the day wore on....

Cabo San Lucas on the Sea of Cortez as we returned
from our trip around Land's End.
Once we disembarked the small craft, we boarded a bus for a look-out point on the opposite side of Cabo and the arch.

Seen from the bus, a Revolution Day Parade was taking place....

...this was apparently a staging area....

...all kinds of groups lining up....

...women in native costume about to parade...

At our stop, a view of Land's End....

...with the Infinity and now a Carnival ship in the view

Another view of the arch from our rest stop.

Jim enjoying a soda at our stop.

Our guide took a picture of Jim and Gayle at our stop--Land's End is in the background.

A rocky coastline....

....provided crashing waves

A beautiful bird flying overhead, ends our rest stop
and then we return to the port to catch the tender,
which returns us to the Infinity.

Back on our ship, I catch a picture of a Carnival ship--
anyone want to take a cruise with Carnival???

And then I notice from our deck a number of people in the water;
their kayak-like craft had capsized.  Here they're trying to get
back into it...

...and they succeed as they are towed away!

As the day comes to a close, the Infinity sets sail and we get our last look at the arch with a wave crashing on the rocks....

...as the ship makes the turn around the end of the
peninsula...

...we get a last look....

at Land's End!

Back in our cabin to get dressed for dinner...

...we catch a sunset through our window that's caught
the ocean's spray....
