Ireland - June 10, 2012

One of the attractions in Dungarvan is the castle which dates from the 12th century and was used into the 20th century.  Jim and I spent the afternoon touring it.  Dungarvan Castle, also known as King John's Castle (i.e., the King John of Magna Carta fame), sits on a peninsula overlooking Dungarvan Harbour.  But before entering the castle, we stopped at this sculpture, which sits across from the castle's entrance--clearly a work of the 21st century!
Sculpture represents the prow of a
ship to commemorate the maritime
activities of this town.  It is 16 feet
high and is also a sun dial.

And how about these palm trees at this latitude??
